A Stereotypical Day[1] is the second episode from Season 8 of Modern Family, it aired on September 28, 2016.
Plot Summary[]
Jay does not want to give the new family moving in across the street the wrong impression and goes out of his way to make sure they know he is the best kind of neighbor, while Manny decides that the best way to an attractive and radical-thinking teenage girl's heart is through his actions. Meanwhile, at the Dunphy house, the entire family is using Alex's recent bout of mono to their advantage. Finally, Cam and Mitchell have always felt they were the most open, non-judgmental and supportive parents. However, when they overhear Lily insulting her new friend, they have to take a quick look in the mirror before they teach her a lesson about acceptance.
Episode Description[]
Alex suffers from Mono. She becomes a sort of slave for all their relatives because Claire uses her to yell at the others, Phil had a traumatic post experience after he locked accidentally in a closet and Luke wants to steal her homework for his final high school year. The only person who "cares" about her is Haley who refuses to admit she was fired.
Meanwhile, Jay installs security cameras in his backyard. He also handles his family problems as Manny wants to be a communist in order to please a girl, Joe wants to live outside and Gloria has issues with remotes. An afro-american family moves in and Jay wants to make sure that he is not racist.
Jay also helps Mitchell and Cameron realize that they're not open-minded as they believed they were when they asks him advice after they heard Lily insult her new transgender friend. It is then revealed that she made that because he mocked her dads's sexuality.
