Alone Time is the twenty-first episode from Season 8 of Modern Family. It aired on May 10, 2017.

Plot Summary

Everyone deserves a little alone time now and then, so when Mitch and Jay separately seek out a much-needed retreat from the family and end up at the same resort, it becomes clear just how "related" they really are. Meanwhile, Phil and Claire can't seem to really enjoy the empty-nester life, and Cam, not knowing what to do with himself while Mitch is away, drops in on Gloria's to lend a hand.[1]

Episode Description

An exhausted Mitch decides to take some time for himself and go to an hotel. Unfortunately, he mentions it to Jay and both men are now in the same place.

However, things improve slowly when they realize they're closer than they thought, even with Jay teaching Mitch how to throw a baseball ball.

Meanwhile, Cam can't stand to be alone, even for a night, and he decides to stay at Gloria's since Lilly is at a sleepover. Gloria is sick and Cam's help is nothing but useless as he burns Joe's cape and also destroys Manny's car , preventing him to take his female friend to a date. But here too, things improve as Cam gives both boys a boost off confidence and even heals Gloria.

Phil and Claire have it with Alex's exams approaching, Haley meeting Dylan again and Luke wanting to create a big high school prank, which makes him temporary deaf. They drive and wonder about their lives and finally watch Thelma & Louise.

At the end, Phil and Claire go to the Hotel where Jay and Mitch stay, but it seems they're unwelcomed.
