Benched is the twentieth episode of the Modern Family series. It was aired on April 14, 2010 and it was directed by Chris Koch.
Synopsis
Jay gives Mitchell a buisness card from one of his friends, Charlie Bingham, to call so he can get a job. Cameron got a job at a greeting card store while Mitchell is in between jobs. At Manny and Luke's basketball game, Jay and Phil confront the basketball coach telling him that his yelling is counter productive and he has a bad attitude which causes him to quit.
Both of them try to be the coach but Jay insists that he is the head coach and Phil is the assistant coach. Mitchell and Cameron get invited to a get-together at Charlies house for a job offer. Claire and Gloria are out together and they both talk about how Manny doesn't want his mom at his basketball games anymore and Alex doesn't want her mom to be around her friends anymore. Cameron and Mitchell talk about the job offer and they finally tell each other how there feeling and Mitchell accepts the job. Jay gives the head coach position to Phil because he wasn't getting anywhere with them. They don't win the game, but Manny gets a chance to score.
