Juliana was Claire Dunphy's alter ego that she created for her Valentine's Day dates with Phil's alter ego Clive Bixby, introduced in "My Funky Valentine". They (the alter egos) usually appeared together on Valentine's Day episodes throughout the series, except in season 6, where Juliana met with and seduced Phil as himself and not as Clive. In “Bixby's Back”, she described herself as a "bored housewife with a dark side and an hour to kill."
In "My Funky Valentine", she got "picked up" at a hotel bar by Clive, who was married but "respected her wife too much to do the things he's going to do to [Juliana]". She went to the restroom and returned wearing a coat and nothing underneath, inviting Clive upstairs. Things took an unexpected turn when her coat got stuck on the escalator.
They met again in “Bixby's Back” after Claire decided that she was not ready to give up the excitement with Phil. She gave him posing as Clive her hotel room key, but the distracted Clive accidentally grabbed an old woman's key instead.
She briefly appeared in “Heart Broken” on a date with Clive, though Claire slipped in and out of character as she worried about the kids. Claire later suffered a minor arrhythmia and was taken to the hospital, cutting the date short.
In “Valentine's Day 4: Twisted Sister”, after Claire called and canceled her date with Phil, Juliana appeared and seduced him. Phil was enticed by her, remarking that she was "adventurous and surprising", making Claire think that he was more in love with her alter ego. Claire later tried to sabotage Juliana's appeal to Phil by saying she had an infected toe, lived with no electricity, and hated Dirty Dancing.
