Legacy is the eleventh episode from Season 11 of Modern Family, it will air on January 15, 2020.
Plot Summary
Phil pays a visit to his dad to make sure he is ok after hearing some concerning news about him. Meanwhile, Jay gives Claire and Mitch a bunch of their old childhood memorabilia that triggers them to reevaluate a long-held story about their first family vacation.[1]
Episode Description
Phil goes to visit his dad in Florida and has fun with him, by reparing a car, meeting a couple who picks them up and cutting Frank's hair. Phil asks Frank why he and Gracie did not want an another child and Frank says it is because Phil is special. Frank then dies and Phil pays him an hommage during which Claire and Mitchell who spent almost the entire episode in Jay's garage trying to prove that their dad wasn't right about everything.
Through phone, Margaret helps them to realize that Jay was a bartender who paid the others for their ideas. Meanwhile, Jay wants to initiate Joe to dogbeds sale but Joe seems to be a better sailer than him. He even manages to buy a second dog which pleases Gloria.
Gloria and Cam have both contradictory thoughts about Manny's reconciliation with his former crush and help one another Gloria with a teacher whose Cam dislikes and Cam with a rival who tries to sabotage Gloria's sale.
