Hey! Just wanted to share a new blog post from Fandom that includes some context on the Unified Community Platform (UCP for short) and details on how the MediaWiki upgrade and feature changes will be happening in the next few months.
The wiki is receiving a fair amount of visits and we have some editors here, but I don't see a lot of conversations. I feel like Discussions might be a good solution for that, so editors realise they are "not alone" in their efforts really. And with Discussions enabled we could look into having the wiki added to the Fandom app, which I'd say would be great for the wiki.
If this is something you would like, I can ask for it to be enabled. Please let me know!
Hey, thanks for the reply. I will be having that enabled then!
I'm also hoping to help out with the wiki's Mobile Main Page this week - that is, the main page that gets seen from mobiles. (I will need the admin role temporarily so I can edit that, but only for a few minutes.) After that, I think the wiki would be fully ready for the app :D
Hey Eamoo! Looking at the list of admins, I realised that none of the bureaucrats are active at the moment. Have you or Steve.welch.7967 ever considered requesting the bureaucrat role?
This role allows one to turn other users into admins or content moderators, which might be useful to assist with defending the wiki or just sharing tasks... so one doesn't have to do everything, really.
If you're interested, all you need is community approval, really. (Which you can get by requesting the role in a blog page or similar.)
I have been going around informing wikis about Fandom's newest blog about the Global Taxonomy project. To put it simply: the "related pages" between different wikis should start becoming more connected based on the relationship between their content. (It is a bit similar to Netflix's recommendations of content based on what a person watched.)
I would also take the opportunity to bump the above message in case it went unseen - which unfortunately can happen sometimes!
I work with Playsonic2 and also wanted to give you a quick update that I'm updating a few features on the main page if that's OK with you and the admins! (I won't really change much of the content- just the headers and adding a few videos).
Always here if you need help with anything or have any specific requests/changes! THANKS!
I just wanted to let you know that we are going to be helping out with some updates for the wiki ahead of the final season of Modern Family. There is a Content Team Member here (Asnow89) who will be assisting with new content, but we also wanted to give some updates to the main page.
I'm also coming up with a new background that is related with Season 11 of the show, as the current one is a poster that is from the past season. My idea is to use correct measurements so it doesn't have to be a repeated image -- so if you don't oppose this, I should be able to upload it soon.
That's it for now, but please feel free to reach out to discuss anything regarding these or other things you would like us to help with. Hopefully this wiki gets fully equipped for the end of this wonderful show. Cheers!
I'm glad you like it, I tried to fit them as best as I could. (There are a lot of them!)
Also, I just made some modifications to the navigation menu, which I hope are acceptable. Added Season 11 to the "Episodes" tab, then reorganized the others a bit:
I separated the main and recurring/other characters so we can have space for adding more characters, including the most visited ones (based on the Special:Analytics page).
I combined the two "community" tabs, so "improve this wiki" is now inside of "community". I did this so we could have the extra space for the characters. It's a big recommendation to have more access to content there than anything else, as there are usually more readers than editors. (this blog has some good explanations for this if you want to know more)
Hi! My name is Playsonic2, and I just wanted to introduce myself as the Fandom Wiki Manager for Modern Family Wiki.
I am here to help the community and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki (editing, design, etc.), please feel free contact me on my message wall. See you!
Just passing by to share a staff blog post about an upcoming MediaWiki upgrade. You may have seen it promoted already, but I'll leave it here just in case, as it's quite big news for communities. Cheers!
Hi Eamoo, my name is Elsa and I am a Community Manager of the TV/Movies vertical for Fandom. I wanted to introduce myself and see if you need anything, have any problems, or would like to share any ideas you have. As you may already know, from now on our team will focus even more on building closer relationships with the communities, admins, and users.
I together with your Wiki Manager Playsonic2 will help you solve any issues on this wiki and to make this community even more successful. We are here to support you and help make this community thrive.
If you need anything, feel free to contact us at any time. :)
Hey, I'm Brandon and I head up the Featured Video team here at FANDOM. There are currently a number of Featured Videos hosted on Modern Family Wiki that we made early on in our video production process, and we don't think that those videos are up to the best quality standards that we can provide. Because of that, we're going to redo the videos from scratch.
Before we start producing the new videos, I wanted to ask you if you or anyone else from the community would be interested in reviewing the scripts that we write. That would give you the opportunity to fact check the information and give any feedback on how the scripts are written and presented, feedback that we would then incorporate into the scripts. This kind of collaboration can ensure we produce the best video possible.
Let me know if this is something you would be interested in taking part in!
What going on with the logo image? I can't see the word 'family' I understand that the main colors are white and orange, but I'd like to suggest that the word 'modern' be white and the word 'family' be in orange on a black background, like the main wiki background? I know it might be hard, but it's only a suggestion, I don't know if it would make the wiki colours and writing more difficult.
