Vincent, also known as Shorty, is one of Jay Pritchett's closest friends. He is first seen in the episode "Fifteen Percent". After Jay's son Mitchell meets Shorty, he says that he is gay. When Jay asks Gloria about it she states that she believes he is gay, because he has never tired to flirt with her. She tells him to confront him about it and Jay starts seeing little signs that suggest Shorty might be gay. It turns out however, that rather than being gay, Shorty owes a booky 20 thousand dollars. Shorty assumes that Jay is willing to lend him the money, as Jay says he would like to help Shorty, but Jay is still under the impression that Shorty is gay. It turns out that Mitchell was teaching Jay a lesson for introducing Cam as "a friend of my son's", earlier in the episode.

He reappears in "Treehouse", with his date Darlene. When Gloria sees that Shorty spends a lot of time with Darlene, she gets mad because she and Jay hardly ever do something together. Shorty invites Jay and Gloria to dance salsa, but Jay rejects the offer, which makes Gloria so angry. The problem is that Jay doesn't hate dancing; he's just bad at it. He first asks Manny to teach him, but later Mitch gives Jay a pill to help him let his inhibitions loose a bit and finally he goes to the dance with Shorty, Darlene and Gloria.

In "Bringing Up Baby" he, along with Phil and Miles, kidnap Jay to surprise him for his 65th birthday.
