He reappears in "[[Treehouse]]", with his date Darlene. When Gloria sees that Shorty spends a lot of time with Darlene, she gets mad because she and Jay hardly ever do something together. Shorty invites Jay and Gloria to dance salsa, but Jay rejects the offer, which makes Gloria so angry. The problem is that Jay doesn't hate dancing; he's just bad at it. He first asks Manny to teach him, but later Mitch gives Jay a pill to help him let his inhibitions loose a bit and finally he goes to the dance with Shorty, Darlene and Gloria.
